We are accepting 10 members for the 2025/2026 season. The Ski Lease + Share is 16 weeks, from January 5th to April 26th, 2026. The Chalet features 3 bedrooms with 7 beds and 3 full bathrooms with hot showers. One pet per member is welcome 🐾 Plenty of gear storage in the garage. Ample driveway parking (and one garage spot). Member-only events include a pre-season meet-and-greet, a mid-season event on the mountain, and Kirkwood Pond Skim at the close of the season.

Chris opened the Sierra Treehouse Chalet to Ski Lease members in 2022/2023, after years of being a member in other ski leases around the Tahoe area. Being on the “other side,” so to speak, gave him better insight into his members' experiences. He had a better understanding of poorly managed, overcrowded properties, bad vibes, and lack of communication that frustrated ski lease members and their guests, and decided it was time to create a more positive experience.

At Sierra Treehouse Chalet, we go beyond offering you a ski lease membership. We make the ski lease experience seamless, from onboarding, to settling in at the chalet, to coordinating with other members for carpooling and bed arrangements, to addressing any questions or concerns about the property. Chris' goal is for members to be confident and excited to enjoy the season, rather than dissatisfied and frustrated. We are here when you need us, whether to ask a quick question or relieve your concerns.

When does the Ski Share start and end?

The ski lease and share starts on January 5th, 2026, and lasts for 16 weeks through April 26, 2026. The chalet is 100% dedicated to Ski Lease + Share members use all 16 weeks.

Where is the Chalet located?

The Chalet is conveniently located in the Amador Pines community in Pioneer, CA, off Highway 88, and at the edge of El Dorado National Forest. The Chalet is just 40 minutes away from Kirkwood. What this means for you: You are not stuck at a remote Ski Resort with limited food, grocery, fuel and dining options. You are in a town with great grocery, restaurant, brewery and fuel options, as close as you can get to Kirkwood up Highway 88, but still be in civilization. You are not forced to sit in traffic jams on Highways 80 or 50 on the way to Tahoe for hours. Instead, you drive up Highway 88 kept open all-year round, and no crowds! Zip up to the Chalet from the Bay, get a great night's sleep, and make fresh tracks at Kirkwood first thing in the AM. (Note: Map provides approximate location for security; exact Chalet address will be given to members.)

Are there any blackout dates?

No. The chalet is a full-time ski lease all season long including every weekend and weekday. The Chalet is reserved for the exclusive use of Ski Lease + Share members and their guests the entire season.

Can I bring my pet with me to the Chalet?

Yes, we welcome pets, one per member. We prefer friendly pets to make the Chalet atmosphere enjoyable for all members. Pets must be accompanied by owners or in a crate at all times. Guests of members must get pre-approval to bring a pet.

Can members bring guests?

Yes! We welcome guests for a nightly fee of $40 per guest. Each member can bring up to 2 guests per night. We provide a Chalet calendar and a membership directory so you can see which days are open, and when other members and guests are planning to come, and coordinate. (Members cannot bring the same guest every visit to dodge the membership fee, because it is not fair to other fully-paid members. If this happens, we simply request your repeat guest becomes a member.)

Is the Chalet kept clean?

Yes! We have regular cleanings by our professional local cleaners, and cleaning supplies are provided for member use as well. So you can rest assured the Chalet will be as clean and comfortable all season long as it is from the start.

Is there a washer/dryer?

Yes, the Chalet has a washer/dryer available for use by members inside the Chalet at no extra charge. Members are requested to bring your own laundry detergent and dryer sheets.

Will members have a bed to sleep in?

Yes! Rest assured that you will always have a place to sleep! WE NEVER OVERSELL MEMBERSHIPS! Members have first dibs on mattresses over guests. Mattress math: 7 beds + 1 cot + 2 sofas = sleeps 15 people. Member-to-mattress ratio: 10 members and 15 spots to sleep = 1.5 spot-to-member ratio. And with a shared calendar and member roster, you can always communicate with other members and discuss arrangements with full transparency and a great community vibe!

How much is membership?

Membership is $1,995.00 per person, due in full before November 1st, plus utilities which generally run $60.00 per month per member. Utilities include water, power, propane (for heat and cooking), snow removal, high-speed fiber WiFi and house supplies.

Is there any deposit?

Yes, a $400.00 deposit secures your membership spot for the season. The deposit is fully refundable.

Are there any discounts available?

Yes! We give discounts to returning members and couples that share a bed.

Can I have my own reserved room all season?

No, the ski share is just that, a share, with beds and rooms available on a first-come first-serve basis. We like to foster a friendly community with a good vibe, which is why a calendar and member roster is provided for members to coordinate and communicate with each other.

Can I live at the Chalet fulltime?

No. This ski lease and share is not for full time residents. No one may stay longer than 15 nights per month, to keep the focus on the passion for skiing and riding at Kirkwood.

Chris is not an absentee ski lease host - he uses the ski lease as a fellow member! He is with you throughout the season, snowboarding, riding, and if you like, carpooling with you to the mountain and back, sharing stories about traveling to ski destinations, and making sure you maximize your enjoyment of your snow season.
